Kintting is Cool!: I love to knit! I am a total novice and make quite a bit of mistakes, but I find it enjoyable. It is amazing to me to see a ball of yarn be transformed into this wonderfully crafted piece of work. I first began to knit with my mother in law. And being that she is an expert seamstress and knitter, I knew I was in good hands. Sad to say, it has been months since I have picked up my needles and I long to get some free time and finish that scarf I started in the Winter. My specialty (well, really the only item I know how to make) are scarves.
In recent years, knitting has become fashionable and chic. There are countless books, boutique yarn shops, classes, knitting groups both physical and online. The opportunity to learn and surround yourself with those who enjoy knitting is bountiful and much more accessible. According to the New York Times, we are even seeing the emergence of handcrafted garments competing and standing their own ground in the fashion world.
